Taste & See

03/01/2025 by Sherri

There are some small combinations in life that feel unexpectedly perfect—and a lemon blueberry cupcake with a glass of lemon water is one of them.

The cupcake itself is bright and soft, with that sweet-tart balance that feels like sunshine in dessert form. The blueberries add little bursts of richness, while the lemon brings everything to life with just the right amount of zest. It’s simple, but somehow it feels joyful in every bite.

And then there’s the glass of lemon water—cool, clean, refreshing. It doesn’t compete with the cupcake; it complements it. It’s the quiet pause between sweetness, the grounding balance that makes the moment feel intentional rather than indulgent.

Together, they create something that feels like a small celebration of ordinary life. Nothing extravagant. Nothing complicated. Just two simple things that happen to be exactly enough.

It makes me think how often joy shows up in pairings like this—sweet and refreshing, richness and simplicity, indulgence and balance. Life has a way of teaching us that even opposites can sit side by side beautifully when we slow down long enough to notice.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” — Psalm 34:8

There is something about that verse that fits this moment so well. Not everything meaningful has to be grand. Sometimes goodness is found in something as small as a cupcake on a quiet day, a cold glass of lemon water beside it, and a few minutes of stillness to enjoy both.

What could be better than that?

Not much—just presence, gratitude, and the sweetness of a moment fully received.
